Music Teacher – Patrick David
Music Department
The music department at Tashkent International School supports a variety of instrumental instruction opportunities and musical events throughout the academic year. Music instruction, theory and practical application are part of the TIS curriculum at every grade level.
The goal of the music department is to allow students to take their classroom and after-school musical experiences and present them to a larger audience while also learning to enjoy music for enjoyment’s sake. Through their exposure to music at TIS, students set the groundwork for life-long music pleasure.
Beyond the classroom, secondary students can participate in music at TIS through after-school activities and large-scale events, including:
• Glee Club – an energetic choral group that presents popular and classic music selections with a non-conformist bend
• Chamber Music – a classical ensemble group consisting mostly of wind instruments plus piano and percussion
• Brass Ensemble – a smaller musical group featuring a variety of non-stringed classical instruments
• Private instruction – one-on-one instrumental instruction on any instrument, including local Uzbek instruments; taught by local tutors. To schedule a private tutor, contact Gulbakhar Seytnazarova, student services coordinator
• Winter and spring concerts
• Theatrical and musical productions – in partnership with the TIS Theatre Department
