Welcome to Tashkent International School (TIS) and the Parent Teacher Association. If you are a TIS parent you are automatically a member of the PTA. The level of your involvement, however, is entirely up to you. The PTA also consists of members of the TIS teaching staff.
The PTA meets once a month for regular meetings and to plan special events. The meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month at 2:30 p.m. Parent information sessions are also held throughout the year and are sponsored by the PTA. At the December monthly PTA meeting, TIS Director Robert Brindley presented results from the most recent parent survey, conducted in spring 2012. Click on the link below to access the presentation.

The PTA is always looking for additional parents and teachers to actively join. We would welcome your help as we carry out our three areas of responsibility at TIS:
• communicaton
• coordination
• cash
First and foremost, the PTA is a venue for communication between parents and school faculty and staff. Our responsibility is to coordinate events in support of the school. Sometimes these events are done in cooperation with faculty and staff; other times these events are within the purview of the PTA.
Some examples of PTA-sponsored events include popcorn sales on Fridays, Teacher Appreciation Day, potluck dinners, quiz night, UN Day celebrations, book fairs, the annual TIS charity ball, the spring bazaar and the annual farewell BBQ. These events serve two purposes – provide an opportunity for the TIS community to socialize, and to help raise funds, the PTA’s third area of responsibility.
All of the money raised by the PTA is fed back into the school for items not otherwise covered in the school budget.
Even though membership in the PTA does not require parents to do anything, we hope that each parent will choose to be actively involved. Our school’s greatest resource is its community of parents, students, faculty and staff. TIS simply cannot achieve its potential without parent involvement.
PTA meetings are open to all parents. If you have any ideas on how to make TIS an even greater school, you are most welcome to join and share your ideas! The more parents involved, the better.
We look forward to seeing new faces at every meeting.
