Day by day, week by week and month by month, the new elementary building at Tashkent International School is taking shape. The building will be complete and ready for use by August 2015.
To get a feel for the new space and to start planning for next year, the current TIS elementary teachers took a tour of the building on Wednesday, February 4.
As they walked through the new building, teachers were able to see which classrooms would suit their needs, make suggestions for space usage, and begin thinking about furniture and fittings. The general feeling from the teachers was very positive – the rooms are very large and the space is great with a beautiful view of the wooded TIS campus from the second floor.
The building also includes nice open spaces for students to work.
Once completed, the elementary building will include classrooms for grades 2 – 5, elementary technology, and elementary learning support.
Classrooms for kindergarten and grade 1 will remain in the current building, as will the elementary library. Elementary art will move to the Art & Design Building and elementary Russian and ELL will move to the House.
