On Saturday, October 25 the Tashkent International School community will come together to celebrate UN Day. This year’s theme is Every Child Counts.
TIS, a school of almost 500 students from 37 different countries, regards UN Day as one of the most important celebrations on the school calendar. Each year the school hosts a special day of performances, displays and events for our students, parents and guests from the community.
The day will be begin at 10 a.m. with the opening ceremony, which will include performances from various cultural centers, a candle lighting ceremony with a UN representative and TIS students, and the Parade of Nations.
This year, more than 20 countries will host country display rooms in the main classroom building, offering information, presentations and even games and activities for children about their country. Outdoors, the Parent Teacher Organization will host the annual fall International Craft Bazaar and the International Food Festival.
UN Day at TIS is free and open to the TIS community and invited guests. For more information, contact Angie Cairns, head of marketing and communications.
