Open Houses for All Grades This Week

The open house for elementary students is scheduled for Wednesday, August 28 from 3:45 to 5 p.m. The secondary open house is set for Thursday, August 29 from 3:45 to 5 p.m. All parents and students are expected to attend their appropriate open house. Both events will be in the MPR or Black Box Theatre on the second floor of the main building. Supervision on the playground for younger children will be provided.

The open houses are very important as they give parents a chance to learn more about what is being taught in the classroom and what the grade-level expectations are for their children. Parents will also have a chance to meet the classroom teachers as well as homeroom and subject teachers.

Parents with children in grade 10 will also attend an information session about the MYP Personal Project during the Thursday open house for secondary students.

During Grade 10, each student is required to complete a Personal Project.  The Personal Project puts to use a combination of skills and knowledge acquired throughout the Middle Years Programme and allows students to use these skills to inquire about a topic of their choosing. Through this project, each student will complete a product, process journal, and personal project report.  The process is then celebrated through the student exhibition, which will take place in February.

For more information about the open houses, contact Kristen DiMatteo, elementary principal, or Andrew Buckman, secondary principal.
